Use
As well as being designed with modularity to be easy to repair, headphones are also available to lease as a service, which allows flexibility and increases the lifetime of a pair of headphones.
Closing the loop
Since each broken part can be replaced individually, the waste generated by throwing away a whole pair of headphones if just one component is broken, e.g. a cable, is prevented; an estimated 85% of the pair of headphones can remain the same. However, when they are beyond repair, some components are still difficult to recycle.
